In January 2005 Tony Robinson, presenter of the Time Team programme, made a surprise visit to the conservation facility in Maesglas Newport housing the timbers from the Newport Medieval Ship.

Tony was shown around the centre by Kate Hunter, project leader of the conservation programme, and saw the electronic Faro arm now being used to record details of the ship timbers. This will enable 3D images of the timbers to be produced - essential to the eventual reconstruction of the ship.
